Who is the Dark Bird and where does he fly?

Bold, mystical and outsider.  He paints at the Flea(market). In his Dark Bird Palace.  Kelly Moore is one of my favorite contemporary artists and one with whom I’ve had the pleasure to meet and talk with for quite a while.  We are lucky to own a Dark Bird painting of our own and I decided to pay homage to him in my journal for the Art-Journal-Journey challenge this month (with my own bits of color thrown in with colored pencil on gesso.) Do check him out, and his writing and his lovely wife Kat Livengood and her amazing wild horse photos.

  14. You have spotlighted this artist before and I was also drawn to his art. But I like your bird, too. What fascinated me was how intense the colored pencils were. I could understand it if they were watercolor pencils, but this was incredible. Must have had something to do with the gesso. Great job.

  15. Oh I love this piece, quite a favourite!
