Art Journal — Flowers

What’s better to draw on a rainy day than flowers.  And since Art-Journal-Journey has a new challenge for July F*l*o*W*e*R P*o*w*e*r, I thought I would give it a try.  One revelation in making this page was the messier I got, the better the page looked.  Loose scribble and loose brush strokes provided me with much more dimension.  The letting go attitude made a much prettier page for me than if I had painstakingly tried to draw each flower.  I am not a realistic painter, never have been and really don’t want to be.  This blousy style suits me so well and is a get lost in the process technique for me.  But it was so soothing to just play on this page.  I am linking up to AJJ, take a visit, there is some fantastic work on this challenge blog from all over the blogging globe.  Enjoy.

below is a little slide show of the process.  Overall stamped page made the flower cutouts, green page was the background in my art journal already there, the rest you can see.  Love the moonlight gellis and their rich colors….

  16. Corrine, I could look at that image all day! Love it! Vibrant, expressive…beautiful:)

  17. I wish I had had some artsy supplies with me at the campground to get me through all that rain, but, in lieu of that, today, I have your flowers! I love this unexpected “still life” from you, Corrine. And, the crowd chanted, “More! More! More!

  18. Wonderful printed page for the flowers! Fabulous!

  19. Thios is an absolutely gorgeous piece! It just flows beautifuly, and it is because of the the messiness, so never change that! I love it!

  20. I love the dimension of this piece. I rather enjoyed our rainy 4th – I had zero guilt about staying inside all day and doing things I love. (and boy did my flowers need the rain!)

  21. Nancy Lee says:

I love your “all over, blousy” style!

  22. Linda K says:

this flower power page is utterly fabulous Corrine! PS- I believe messy art is a good thing:)

  23. Another great page…..I’m not much of a realistic painter either but I can usually make something that people will recognize as a flower….not a specific flower, mind you, but at least a flower! 🙂 These look dimensional, like you cut out the pieces and kind of folded them to get them to stand away from the page – whatever you did, it looks COOL!

  24. wow I love your flower pages!

  25. This is absolutely gorgeous! Wonderful colours! Also I love the way you created these lovely flowers!

  26. Really stunning. Wonderful flowers and I love the backround.

  27. What a burst of happy on my screen! Love your gorgeous flowers.
