Workshop — Seth Apter’s 52 Pick Up

5 Flares Filament.io 5 Flares ×

Friday I disappeared down the rabbit hole by the river in the cutest shop ever (Eclectic Paperie) owned by the Amazing Kim(as Seth dubbed her) to a workshop with Seth(otherwise known as Mr. Uber Nice Guy) in my book…a whole day to play(thank you Superhero husband).  Eight women and the Amazing Kim spent the day painting, painting, painting, glazing, glazing, painting, spattering and then some collage on our marvelous card decks.

Mr. Uber Nice Guy Seth gave us great tips, techniques, tidbits and all manner of mixed media yumminess – and some good jokes – while we got lost in the art of play.  I met new friends, spattered paint(on my neighbor’s cards – oops) Got some spatter in return, realized thanks to Seth that rub ons have new meaning in my journaling.  Learned to think of materials in different ways – again, thanks to Seth.  Got some great tips from the other ladies as we traded ideas and watched everyone blossom in their own way, which I always marvel at and love.

A day of pure bliss which in the midst of my chaotic life was exactly what I needed.  Here are some shots of the day – you can see a snippet of the other card decks done by everyone…

Here’s my pile with several layers painted over my charcoal gray gesso background. I ended up using a folded piece of paper to make the lines and they really added lots of dimension.

And of course thanks and a good hug from Seth…..
