The Buttonheads

14 Flares Filament.io 14 Flares ×

Over this weekend, after journaling Friday afternoon, a source of inspiration smacked me in the head and I had to follow it down that twisted path.  Now there is no going back.  The Buttonheads, an art doll series with snippet stories of their own.  Hand stitching, which I find to be like a dream sequence, falling in and rolling out into the never, never land of my curiously odd mind and writing bits of stories, thought fluffs moving into the ether….But really, I feel like all of this is demonstrating  fragility.  The Buttonheads are fragile beings, rough round the edges, not quite fitting in, yes strangely satisfied in their own way. Constructed from vintage fabrics and stitching, ordinary materials really, feedsacks and bits of old sheeting, bark cloth and felted sweaters.  Materials used and worn with stories of their own.  A layering of fragility…but with rich history.  Hands involved, body witness, soul feeding, heart on the table, like The Buttoneheads themselves.  Meet Eunice…
