Methods of Thinking

methods of thinkingThis little quip of type showed up while is was making a collage in my journal.  I think about thinking ALOT…while I am social and outgoing, my preference is to hide out at home and just make stuff in the basement – okay – really – not in a creepy way, just because I like being alone, in silence, in my own head…

The inner journey is circuitous and bends around corners to reveal with sudden clarity hidden aha moments that always blow me away.  I spend most of my daytimes alone, surrounded only by fur and they don’t talk much, a bark here or there, some bird call when we walk and I revel in the silence. Maybe it’s because my brain seems to be going 100 miles an hour all the time, if I don’t have to engage, I get a break…When I work in the studio my brain goes into meditation mode and that really helps me to stay balanced and happy.   It’s funny because the Superhero is exactly the opposite and can’t think clearly without music playing.  Needless to say, when we create, we are in different parts of the house….

We all have our methods of thinking don’t we, each of us with quirks and coping skills of our own spinning our thoughts out in the same way we manifest in the world.  Here is another version of the above piece with some digital manipulation thanks to Ribbet.

thinking post cardI really find this soothing and pleasing to view.  Now if I could only have thought, ha ha, of this myself.  Would be tough to collage and be accurate don’t you think?  There’s that word again….

  1. LOVE it…both pieces. I know what you mean by the brain going at 100 miles per hour. I’m a victim of this syndrome.

  2. When I’m thinking, alone, my mind seems to slow down a bit. I am a mind-whirler. I love this collage; so expressive and meaningful for your thoughts and feelings. xxoo

  3. Fab post Corrine, incredibly thought provoking again. Lol I think way too much, probably explains why I tend to be so screwed up lol!!!! I love your collage, another serendipitous moment methinks.
    Huge hugs x x x x

  4. I, too, love to create in silence, Corrine, and that includes creative thinking. But, surprisingly, I am sometimes interrupted by the sound of my own voice. A “Why didn’t I think of that? or a “What was she thinking? or even a “That can’t be right!” But, I do love to think, to reconnoiter, to reminisce. I do love your collage today, Corrine, but the second seems much too structured for my whirling mind this morning! I promise to revisit it, however! Glad you’re home!

  5. When i create i love silence AND sometimes music….depending on my mood… Hubby does not like silence and prefers the TV or music on……

I think thats why living in a neighborhood setting as we do now is not appealing… its never really silent around here…. and i miss it… i crave it…..

I LOVE the blue in the first picture with the white fluffy ‘clouds’….. just gorgeous Corrine! Hugs! deb

  6. Hey, my friend. First, I love this collage; the colors and the layers. Those dots almost look like they are sitting under wax. I am home alone all day. Although I’m working my full-time job, it’s still that silence that rushes in my head with thought of what I’d rather be doing .. and that’s art. I love how we are all so different. That does make the world go round after all.

  7. it all requires some thought! like both!

  8. I also prefer to work alone although I do enjoy music playing most of the time while I work. Whatever works!

  9. Time alone is what we all need, so good for the soul! Lovely collage Corrine, it makes me think of the sea and waves and blue skies!

  10. Thank God you said ‘digital’ as I was racking my brain trying to think of how in the heck you did this. Need more caffeine.

  11. So intriguing – but I have to say that I love your hand done piece more… all that texture… funny how the right words just pop out at us. xo

  12. I often read other artists sharing their play lists or talking about having music going. Not me….I like it quiet – and like Superhero, Dan can’t seem to function without music and played at much too loud a level if you ask me! (a frequent point of contention) I love it when he’s off on a bike ride or otherwise engaged and the house is quiet. However, I must say that, like Kay above, the only sound I’ll hear is ….. me. I do tend to talk to myself as I try to figure out what next or how to do something! 🙂

This is a most excellent collage and while I appreciate the surprise of the digi version, I LOVE the layers and textures of your collage….so pretty.

  13. Nancy Lee says:

Love the layers on the first piece, I’d go crazy trying the digital.
I enjoy being alone. But sometimes need the TV just so somebody talks to me.

  14. Oh give me peace, any day! Then I might be able to hear & sort out the constant noise in my head 😉 He likes the radio or news….constantly! They say opposites attract…. Love the top collage best.

  15. You really speak out of my heart with your post…I am the silent one too 😉 I love your collage so much and I thank you for showing me ribbet the first time…jipphee 😀 ♥ Conny
