StencilGirl Blog Hop — Mary’s Maps

3 Flares 3 Flares ×

What can I say, I love Mary’s Maps.  Her stencils, her paintings, her lovely spirit.  It was with such anticipation that I tackled this hop and I can tell we are all excited by how many of us there are to play with all of these fabulous map stencils.

I kept feeling the pull of heart all through this project as you will see below. I began by tracing and filling in with graphite pencil the entire stencil….it’s alot of graphite…

IMG_9647I sprayed it several times with fixative and mounted it on a cardboard substrate.  I used Mary’s Map Stencil L200
1038I had some gorgeous hand made paper that fit perfectly with my heart-full idea.

Tearing the paper randomly I created a frame for the map.

IMG_9651To complete the edges I used vintage dictionary pages with only partial words showing.

IMG_9657The final touch was the addition of a paper clay heart I created, distressed and painted with both red and dark brown acrylic paints to give it a vintage look.

IMG_9663A few words and voila, the Map of my Heart.

Please visit all the other artists in the hop to see what amazing projects they develop.  There are four stencils, so you will see a great variety of things with this group.
