Telling the Story — New Year, New Work

2 Flares 2 Flares ×

I enjoyed a mostly disconnected week of holiday contemplation.  Family celebration and quiet walks, adventures in the woods with dogs and studio time.  Painting, painting and more painting.  It felt really good to immerse and dive in with my hands and move paint around the paper, the canvas, the panel…I am consciously making more time to tell the story, create what shows up and listen to the intuitive voice that speaks from within.  No heavy resolutions here, just moving forward — one brush stroke  — paint on the fingers  — paint everywhere. New work, joyful work, work for work’s sake. new New Work

What new are you contemplating?  Resolutions or baby steps?  Or just any movement at all. It’s all good.

Happy New Year 2013

  1. I love your contemplations, your movements, your colors . Your pieces tell stories that only my heart understands, the speak volumes. I know you understand that.
For this year, the only thing that I am contemplating is trying to always be the best person I can be.
    Love ya Corrine.

  2. Love this piece – not your usual bright colors and maybe that is part of the surprise. The layers and textures are fab. I’m still contemplating my path for 2013 – mostly I’m trying to figure out how to create a structure for my creativity….I tend to be all over the place, skipping from one idea to another and not really exploring any single thing completely. My goal is probably – FOCUS! I’m SO looking forward to continuing our friendship and being inspired by you. Thanks for all the encouragement given last year!!

  3. Love this piece…especially the “Seahawk Green” 🙂
Simply enjoying everyday here for 2013. parts of 2012 was a little too stressful for me!
    Happy New Year Corrine!

  4. A subtle piece, and fabulous texture. A great start to what I hope will be an inspiring 2013. Happy New Year.

  5. Happy New Year! xo

  6. Happy New Year!

  7. Happy New Year Corrine. I love this piece of work, it’s fabulous. I think I will probably do the same as you, just keep moving forward and keep working and hopefully developping. I look forward to following your progress in 2013 xx

the new color scheme is wonderful. mysterious! enjoy your new year.

  9. wonderful texture on this one! Happy New Year filled with much creativity!!

  10. oh wow, Corrine, this piece really speaks to me. I want to spend 2013 slowing down my painting, creating deeper and richer layers, and not rushing the outcome. My “40 day” piece taught me a lot, and I look at paintings like this one and say YES, that’s what I want to be doing.

  11. Love love LOVE the texture in that painting! WOW!
I don’t make resolutions, but am working at pairing down wasted time on the computer. Found the time away from it yesterday gave me extra moments to create a little, read some blogs and not feel the day had crept away.
Adjustments, toward what is important for me to do.
Would enjoy hearing more about the process on the piece you have posted.

  12. Stunning texture and colors! After reading your post about the nature walks – when I look at this my mind keeps seeing a forest with trees and moss and that peaceful calm that comes during a walk in the woods. Love that your resolutions are so open and gentle- may 2013 provide everything you need my friend!

  13. This is WONDERFUL Corrine, so much texture, HOW DO YOU DO IT ?? I love it ,and love your baby step,- in resolutions, no big steps here, eighter-just letting the year start slowly, and see when and what to create.

  14. Well, your week sounds pretty good to me. Your painting is so cool to look at. I agree with Carolyn, moss, woods.. really neat. Easy steps for me.. working full-time.. I have no big steps or huge resolutions… just a happy balance. That’s my goal.

  15. what gorgeous texture and shapes. And I love the woodsy colors as well. Wishing you a happy and healthy new year with lots of time to create, reflect, and rejoice!

  16. Wonderful color and texture … You inspire me to play more and work less 🙂 … Happy new year and the fresh hope and inspiration that comes with it!

  17. Your intention to move forward, one paint stroke at a time, had me drooling to get messy again myself !
I wish you a 2013 full of opportunities to be at your joyous work !
    Cheers !

  18. This reminds me of a tree trunk with mossy bark. I like it. Best wishes for you in the coming year. I resolve to keep living.

  19. Happiest of new years to you, my friend! I hope your holidays have been wonderful too.

That painting is just screaming old growth forest to me..very lovely.

  20. Happy New Year Corrine! I love your art work, this is full of soul, I like playing too, having plenty of fun with color, but I’m in a still and tired phase, happy to doodle and draw these days. Best wishes to you!

  28. Hi, there! I’m reading ! Can you believe it?!
Thank you for your kind comments on my blog. Who knows what’s going to happen? That’s part of the charm of living…sometimes. But I liked reading about pushing paint around. I find that desire getting more and more present lately, but other stuff has entered in and pushed it out. This piece looks so awesome. I am catching up, so Happy New Year!
