Friday Affirmations — Shifting

Shifting moves energy into new directions —

Playing around with scraps of leftovers on my work desk and moving the pieces in random fashion while taking Instagram shots led me to a whole new way of looking at work and how I can push it in a new direction simply by shifting my thoughts. I really enjoyed the exercise of stretching collage in a digital way and seeing what showed up.  It gave me a whole new way of looking at building a piece and became joy in and of itself.  What makes you think, what happens when you shift?  Left, right, up, down becoming something other….

looks interesting! changing the way you look at things can be interesting in other things as well! I wish the govt. would get together and change how they are seeing theCliff! happy friday!

  2. I also find that when I look at a photograph of my work, I see it very differently. In Flora Bowley’s class, we were encouraged to rotate the canvas every time we felt stuck, or just periodically, and look at it from a different perspective. It really shifts how you see it. great post!

  3. This is a must do for me! What a great way to get the creativity moving and shifting- esp. when holiday stress gets its hands on me!! I wish I lived closer to you- we’d have such fun in your studio!

  4. What incredible beauty you create when you shift your thinking. Most impressive!! As always, I’m in awe of your art and your THINKING!!

  5. Love these! So pretty! I’m always so straight up and down/cut-n-dry, I was thinking I need to give things a bit of a turn or a twist. Thanks for the inspiration!

  6. I love this idea and what you’ve done with your colorful things here is beautiful. I saw Pam Carriker do a video series a while back where she made photo copies of various art works and then cut up the copies and reassembled them to make new pieces…gluing, painting, drawing over…it’s really a cool thing to do. Perhaps I shall give it a go after seeing your different lovelies here. xo

  7. Our universe is FULL of endless, ENDLESS possibilities!

I just love how your colors all come together and the patterns – just really awesome. I find by shifting things, I do see different things and often helps me when I’m not particularly happy with a direction a piece is taking me.

    Hugs, Marilyn

  9. These are just great images.

  10. I made some more felt today, half way thru 2 colors I cut it into strips, shifted up & down, left & right & felted it back together again 😉

  11. Oh Corrine… great shifting going on. Love all the stages you have here. Each and every one is it’s own collage art piece. J

  12. Looks fabulous and interesting. It is fun to shift gears and perspectives and see what transpires.

  13. This is definitely a real thing. Perspective is often SO much of any equation. And it keeps us young!

I love these, and I would cover my whole office with some of them.

  14. What a great idea – I can’t believe I haven’t tried this…..although I’m a little afraid I’ll end up planted in front of my computer instead of painting, gluing, stitching, doodling – all things I ALSO love to do. How in the hell are we supposed to do it all??? 🙂 I’ll add it to the ever growing list of inspirational ideas you’ve given me. (still want to try a spiral book too!) (and 40 days)

  15. These compositions are lovely. Sometimes when I want to shift my thinking I do something physical, like stand, sit, dance, move my work to a new area…the list goes on and on. I find that a shift in position often leads to a shift in thinking.
