Upcycle Apron-Painted Chaos

My favorite studio apron, which I posted about here was getting really ratty looking.  I had wiped far too much paint, pitt pen and collage glue all over it.  I do love it though because it is canvas and keeps the paint off my clothes. I am after all a messy creator, that’s why the apron got so grungy in the first place.  So I had this piece of muslin that I free painted with liquid acrylics and dynaflo fabric paints.  I dripped, swirled, stamped with bubble wrap, big bubble wrap, used my fingers and all manner of – MESSY – creating. Thought bubble, duh, what do I do, thought bubble, answer – applique.  A free form cutting, free stitching, some wabi sabi  hand stitching, button sewing, pocket making and voila – the upcycle of my existing apron which I am calling painted chaos.  A pocket for my glases, a pocket for a pen, there’s even some room for mail art from friends.
