Power Lines

Moving towards the elemental, I have been playing with simpler materials in my creative journey.  The lowly crayon seems so satisfying in it’s waxy goodness.  Scotch tape as a method of adhesion, a metal ruler and a pen.  A few pitt brush pens or sharpies.

Maybe it’s the ICAD2 challenge, creating something every day with a a few bits of what’s around, a quick, sketch, a prompt word from Tammy.  Today that word was grid, which became something else altogether as I colored in those little boxes with my crayons…

Picasso once said, “every act of creation is first an act of destruction”.  So how do you destroy a grid, well you explode it into 3 dimensions of course, so here is my exploding grid ICAD.  This took me further to the journal where I was thinking about power lines, the power grid, the exploding grid…

So my painted background got colored with crayons all over, some strips from my ICAD attached with scotch tape. Pitt brush pens and Sharpies colored the lines along with plain old black bic.

Pinks, oranges, yellow-greens, turquoise, teal an purple.  Besides all the lines it seemed important to flow lots of colors.  All representing energy flow in it’s own way in my head, from my hand…

It’s always a question, that requires no answer, but moves along of it’s own volition.  Who knows Power Lines Exploding the Grid.

  1. The ICAD is obviously doing it’s job! It’s getting us creating and then you were able to carry the idea further and explore it more. Perfect! The energy of the power lines pages is apparent and it actually feels similar to the flower power pages you did – similar radiating strong lines, bright colors (no surprise there), etc. I like this trend!
