Finding Spirits

I am trying to begin to see,
begin to look in a new way
an intuitive way for what
emerges, what calls to me
from inside.

I wanted to put some texture
on the page and then play with
that texture with paint and then with
oil pastel sticks(which I almost never use)
but today it seemed like the
best tool, smooshing color, thick,
greasy lines and some glitter too.

These spirits called to me, and the hawk
who flies, daily, wings outstretched above
the house.

Who calls to you?

  1. Right now, the only animal calling to me is Cassie — at 3 months old she's a little doll who really love being in Mom's lap!!!!

  2. lyle baxter says:

very cool. those oil pastels are great ! you can really get some interesting color and texture with them! I like the mystery to the picture.

  3. Denise Scaramai says:

    hello dosfisches!
I liked know you, see your blog, your work, your way of life …
what a wonderful place! congrats to all!
what a shame we're a 'little too far'
    would visit you personally! 🙂

  4. Kim Mailhot says:

Oh, this one is is rich…love the addition of the pastels.
Calling me is a need to forgive, to let go of judgement and just LOVE, not always an easy thing, but man, once you get there, life is sweeter…
    Happy Tuesday, Beautiful Rich One.

  5. loving the rich colors of your recent work – so bold!!! and i especially love your bird from 7/12, think that is my most favorite ever.
calling me these days??? my artist soul.
    i see yours is too…

  6. Candace says:

Calling me. Mmmm… so many times I feel that "I-I-I am calling you" like the song from Baghdad Cafe. One of the most haunting and lovely songs ever, not unlike these images you've created. Gorgeous, rich work! Speaking of work, whew. Yes, it calls too. Good thing in this economy.
    Take care! Back later.

  7. NuminosityBeads says:

I really like the richness of layers in this one Corrine.

The thing that's calling to me is voices of former yoga teachers to try to keep my body limber and pain-free by keeping the practice in my life as much as creativity calls to me. The balance of mind-body and spirit that gets out of whack. A constant maintenance at this point in life.

Candace, I just saw that movie again recently and that song definitely does stand out.

    xoxo Kim
