Home Again, Reinvention 2, Chicagoland

A week without a glue stick
no paper, no art supplies and
my brain befuddled with gobs
of new information to process.

Boy am I glad to be home again.

I spent most of four days doing
this…

Standing in glamorous furniture showrooms,
sitting in meetings
watching the designers in the latest fashions
previewing all of it, looking glazed over
and confused, tired and bemused.

Don’t get me wrong, it is exciting and new.
Lots of green innovation like the showroom above
that it totally green, leed certified clean with furniture that can be
98% recycled at the end of it’s life, these are good things.

Flowers that are like a dream.

Settings that are
serene with led lights
cool and clean.

A chair like a spine, a pretty bar scene

These were my
real days….
But all I wanted to do was hang
out at the bean.

Cloud Gate
shrouded in mist
reflecting the sky, me
you and all those nearby
watching the buildings wrap
around it’s mirrored surface
and the mist part cloud
for sure.

Sixty feet high and longer
under over polished mirror
of the city. it is nothing
short of spectacular.
It inspires awe in me every time
I see it.

A little reinvention to bring me back
a cereal box turned into a mailer
(thank you Maya for charging my
engines for re-invention)

A little trimming
folding and some tape
and of course, collage
side one

I missed you all and have
so much to catch up on with
what you have been doing.
More on Chicagoland tomorrow.

  1. Welcome home! (I love the bean, too)

  2. I live near Nottingham and we also have a huge mirror sculpture by the same sculptor – Anish Kapoor. I would love to see the one in Chicago though ….it looks spectacular! Your words about it are brilliant.

Welcome back, Corrine; you have been missed!
Very cool and clean lined furniture, and I love things that are green in any way.
I saw the bean first in the "Where the hell is Matt" video on YouTube (highly recomennded if you haven't already seen it 100 times). I agree; it's a real work of art.

  5. Jensters says:

  6. Very cool trip – even with glazed over eyes. The photos are amazing, I've never been there but hope to someday. Happy for you to be home now. Your the best, sweetest "commenter", you ALWAYS make me smile.
