Messy Studio, Flux Mind

0 Flares 0 Flares ×

Somehow, even after I clean the
studio, it always ends up like this…

Flux of paper, randomness of the search.  That little bit of paper
that looked so boring yesterday becomes utterly fascinating today.
Changes in mood, color, texture, weight all contribute to what shows
up in the collage today.

Sometimes I believe my brain is completely unstructured
and that the mice that live in my attic live in my brain too.
Scampering through this warren of tunnels that go????
who knows where.  I find comfort in the chaos,
with things slightly on the edge.  Even though I would
like to believe order rules the day, clutter is like an
old friend that comforts me.  There is always a magazine
or book in a pile that I forgot to finish that sprouts up from
the table and shows itself. Just like the paper in the studio.

Thankfully I live with a soul mate who behaves in exactly
the same way, only his piles have Scientific American and
Guitar Player instead of Somerset Studio and Cloth, Paper, Scissors.

Now, you won’t see us on an episode of the UK “How Clean
Is Your House?’ But there is nary a surface that does not
contain at least a magazine or two, some random mail,
pages I have ripped out to use later, pages with musical notes
and the like.

I am  living in a collage dream.
Sounds good – or at least a lovely way to rationalize,
don’t you think?

Oh, I hear you. I have minor explosions around my house when I create.
It's quite spectacular. There's a bed in the guest room/upper studio that turns into a catchall almost daily no matter how hard I try to keep it clear!

If it makes you happy, it can't be that bad…right ? ๐Ÿ˜‰
It's a beautiful mess, this life.
    Happy creating !

i love your collage dream world. what color, and — verve! i'm sorry i don't make it here each day, but i just caught up on a bunch of posts. your creativity is inspiring. thank you~ reminds me that i need to take more pictures throughout the day…not quite the same kind of creativity, but generative work nonetheless–planting bok choi and tat soi, taking baby plants outside for the first time to harden off, holding a discussion about permaculture and transition town. less visible, perhaps, but my mind feels like it's full of scraps of paper, all waiting for me to pull them together into something vivid, and colorful, like your collages.

  4. Sounds normal to me! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

  5. Sounds like someone else I know, someone I live with perhaps!! Hmmm…the apple doesn't fall far from the tree ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. I have stopped trying to clean up every day, and am quite happy with my creative mess most of the time. Husband on the other side…
I love the stuff that keep emerging from your mess!
